A dedicated group of Ring 41 magicians came out on Leap day to watch our youngest member, Gregory Dobbs, give a mini-lecture on magic.
But first we started off with our usual business meeting. We officially announced that our next lecture will be none other than "Daryl." To make things even more exciting, it will be a special event, and not a regular meeting. We will be hosting a dinner and a lecture! The date is May 5th and there are more details in the newsletter.
Young "Dobbs" impressed us with his skills with cards, that included "An Ace Production" that was a mini lesson in sleights. Along the way there was a "Dual Ace Sandwich" routine that was a bit unorthodox in fashion, yet powerful in effect. Continuing the card magic was "Kingsposition" where the magic happens in the hands of the spectator. In Dobbs own words, it was "Awesome!" Finally there was "Card under Box," a fun trick to perform and Dobb's variation on the classic.
Dobbs, closed with some rubber band magic, where he gave the audience personal instructions on his version of the "Crazy Man's Handcuffs." Helping individual members on the workings made for a good chance to get to know the membrship.
The Ring thanks "Dobbs" for accepting the challenge and participating in the successful meeting.
Attending as a guest was the owner of "Big Guys' Magic" in Pewaukee, the big guy himself, Big Guy! After some words about his wonderful new magic shop, Big Guy was kind enough to offer each attending member a chance at a raffle prize. One lucky member (sorry I forgot who) won a $20 gift certificate for the shop. Everyone else was given a $1 off magic token for there next visit to the shop.
The Ring wishes the Big Guy well in his new venture. If you have not seen the shop, please stop out and take a look around. You will be impressed. Thank you BIg Guy!
