Treasurer's Report

Reports from the Treasurer.

We are putting out a call to the membership for volunteers to help with the Auction on Sunday April 29th, 2012. As we all know, there has been a core group of members helping run the auction for many years now. It's time for some new blood to step up and lend a hand during this annual event. If you would like to help make this auction the best auction to date, please contact a board member and volunteer some of your time this coming May.

Watch your mailbox...

If you have not paid your 2012 dues yet, please do so before the next meeting. We need to close the books and get on with new business!

Your help in this matter is appreciated.

Paying your dues promptly will help us from having to send out reminder notices.

What Kind Of Member Are You?

Are you an active member,
  the kind that would be missed;
Or are you just content
  that your name is on the list.

Do you attend meetings,
  and mingle with the flock;
Or do you stay at your own home
  and criticize and knock.

Do you work on committees,
  to see there is no trick;
Or leave the work to just a few
  and talk about the clique.

So, come to the meeting often,
  and help with hand and heart;
Don't be just a member
  But take an active part.

Just another reminder for those few members that have not yet paid their 2011 dues. Don't put it off because if you do, it will cost you $15.00 (as a non-member) to attend the Shawn Anthony lecture on March 30. Check out the Ring Calendar for the great upcoming lectures in April, August and September. Remember, they're FREE for the members.

It's that time of the year! I will be mailing you an Invoice for $12.00 for your annual membership dues. 2011 dues covering January 1 to December 31, 2011 should be paid (mailed or given to me at a future meeting) prior to December 31, 2010. Paying your dues promptly will help me from having to send out reminder notices.

PS. Secretary note: Bob will also be sending each member a few of our "New" Ring 41 Advertising Cards. Please put these in your wallet or purse to have "at the ready" when you run into a new magician or prospective member. If you need more cards, please contact the Secretary.

On Wednesday, May 26th, we had an excellent turnout for the Eugene Burger Lecture. Twenty (20) of our Twenty nine (29) active Ring members attended this lecture.

The interest in Eugene's lecture also attracted eleven (11) guest magicians paying $15.00 each to his lecture. Hopefully we can convince these magicians to join our Ring, if they're International (IBM) members, to take advantage of our low annual dues of $12.00 and then attend possibly two to three lectures each year at no-charge.

Ring 41 held its annual magic auction again this year at the Fire Ridge Golf Club in Grafton, Wisconsin on Sunday, April 25,2010.

Magicians came from near and far to bid for and sell their magical props, tricks, books, lecture notes, DVD’s and videos. Forty seven (47) members and guests were in attendance as registered bidders. The main Auctioneers were Bob Rath and Glen Gerard; while, at times, other Ring members and guests would help by explaining or demonstrating their magical equipment and collectible items offered up for bidding.

It was a very busy afternoon for the auction tabulators who recorded a total of 441 items sold of which 279 items were bought in the live auction and 162 items were sold in the silent auction. The tabulators who did a great job were Richard Mehring, Maria Kurtz, Mike Miller and John Kurtz.

It was another successful fund raising event because the Ring collected $283.00 as 10% of the total live and silent auction sales.

I would also like to thank the following Ring members who worked at the auction or behind-the-scenes to make this another successful Ring event. They are Mark Martinez, Jon Spansail, John Lewitzke and David Swoboda.

Don't forget that your attendance at our upcoming lectures is free if you're a current Ring 41 member.
